Vital work to improve future train services between Manchester and Stalybridge will impact Sunday timetables between 19 June and 21 August, passengers were advised today.

Rail passengers are being asked to plan ahead as National Armed Forces Day comes to Cleethorpes.

Network Rail and South West Trains are reminding passengers and those living near the railway to find out more about upcoming work to improve drainage and reduce the risk of flooding between Fulwell and Shepperton.

With under a week to go before major work starts to upgrade the railway in Chorley, passengers travelling between Preston and Bolton on evenings and at weekends are being urged to check before they travel and plan their journeys.

Hundreds of school children got a chance to find out more about staying safe around the railway when the Network Rail safety bus visited Cornton and Bridge of Allan primary schools.

Network Rail will begin work to extend the platforms at Martins Heron station on Sunday (19 June), allowing longer trains to call at the station as part of the organisation’s Railway Upgrade Plan.

Passengers travelling on the line connecting Norwich, Suffolk and Essex with London Liverpool Street will experience fewer heat related delays to train services in summer, following a major upgrade of the overhead lines which power the trains.

Network Rail is reminding passengers in Aldershot to check before they travel over the weekend of 25 and 26 June while it replaces a 120 year old bridge over Aldershot High Street as part of its Railway Upgrade Plan.
