Passengers planning to use train services in South Wales between 16 June and 6 July are being urged to check before they travel, ahead of the next phase of modernisation work between Bristol and Cardiff.

The Great Western Mainline near Exeter in Devon reopened as planned this morning following the successful completion of culvert installation work by Network Rail’s Team Orange.

Network Rail is providing funding for buses in Bradninch, Devon, to allow for vital bus services to be maintained during the temporary closure of Station Road in Hele.

A temporary road closure will be in place at Station Road in Hele, Devon, from Tuesday 29 May as Network Rail is planning to carry out a flood resilience project in the area. Flooding has been a long standing problem in and around Hele, and a scheme has been developed which will not only reduce the risk of flooding to the railway, but also to nearby homes and businesses.

Residents of Oxford have been invited to a drop-in ahead of work to improve capacity and reliability through the city as part of Network Rail’s Oxford Corridor railway upgrade plan.

Residents in and around Pilning near Bristol are being invited to a drop in session about railway electrification work in the area as part of the London Paddington to Cardiff upgrade that will bring passengers faster, greener, more frequent and quieter journeys from 2019.

Final preparations are being made on the rail network with up to 60,000 passengers expected to catch a train to Windsor this Saturday to celebrate the Royal Wedding of Prince Henry of Wales and Ms. Meghan Markle.
