A special Valentine’s Day event will take place at Paddington station on Wednesday, 14 February to celebrate improvements to Brunel’s iconic station, as well as the £7.5bn route modernisation that will transform journeys across the West, and provide thousands more seats to and from London Paddington.

Passenger journeys from Bristol will be transformed from next year with more frequent services to London, quicker journeys and more seats per train.

Network Rail is working with Corsham Town Council and Wiltshire Council in a bid to stop fly tipping at the Potley Lane aqueduct in Corsham.

Residents in Cornwall are invited to a series of drop-in events next week to learn more about Network Rail’s Cornwall Capacity Enabling Scheme, which will deliver more seats and more reliable journeys for rail passengers.

Passengers in Berkshire and Oxfordshire will benefit from more seats and better journeys as Network Rail delivered electrification to Didcot on December 27 as part of their Railway Upgrade Plan.

• Network Rail will be investing £160m in improving and upgrading the rail network over the Christmas period including largest ever signal data upgrade at Paddington.
• Passengers travelling from the west are advised to plan ahead as upgrade work means Paddington will have no train services running between December 24 and 27 inclusive (London underground services are unaffected)
• A reduced service to and from London Paddington will then be in operation from 28 December to 1 January inclusive

Residents of Oxford have been invited to a drop-in event next week ahead of work which will enable capacity improvements and reliability through the city as part of Network Rail’s Oxford Corridor railway upgrade scheme.
