Construction of a brand-new railway station to link Portway Park & Ride with the Severn Beach railway line has got underway.

The Newquay branch line has reopened as planned this morning (Friday 28 January) following Network Rail successfully completing a number of upgrades to this popular stretch of railway.

Network Rail is asking cyclists who have left their bicycles at Bristol Temple Meads for long periods of time without use to reclaim them by Friday 11 February, ahead of the annual bike cull.

Overnight engineering work every Monday to Thursday night from Monday 24 January until Thursday 17 March will mean the railway line between Exeter St Davids and Teignmouth will be closed, with the Sleeper service returning on Friday 18 March.

Network Rail has submitted a planning application to Mid Devon District Council to reduce the frequency and duration of flooding on the railway at Hele and help prevent a vital link to the South West being cut off.
