A multi-million pound programme will turn Bristol Temple Meads into the UK’s first ‘Station Innovation Zone’, trialling new technologies designed to upgrade passengers’ experience.

Network Rail teams from across Devon, Bristol, London and Wales enjoyed a triumphant evening at last night’s National Rail Awards scooping up a total of six awards at what is considered the ‘Railway’s Oscars’, held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

South Gloucestershire Council and Network Rail have submitted a planning application for a new train station in Charfield.

Earlier this year, Network Rail donated a kilometre of track and sleepers to Devon-based Plym Valley Railway, alongside other rail equipment which has now been installed by the heritage line.

The railway’s favourite bear, Paddington, has returned to his beloved Platform 1 at London Paddington station.

As a result of industrial action this Saturday (8 October) Network Rail is reminding passengers in West London, Thames Valley, the West of England and across the South West, to only travel by train if absolutely necessary.

Network Rail is inviting residents in the Frome area to attend a drop-in session tomorrow (Tuesday 4 October) to find out more about the refurbishment of a railway bridge in the town, which takes place later this year alongside essential track maintenance.

As a result of coordinated industrial action starting this Saturday (1 October), Network Rail is warning passengers on its Western route – which covers the railway and towns and communities between Penzance and London Paddington – to expect extremely limited train services, only travel by train if absolutely necessary and plan ahead and check when their last train will depart.
