Network Rail has laid down 1,100 tonnes of new tarmac to completely re-surface Fleet station car park improving the facility for passengers.

Engineers continue to assess the damage caused by a landslip between Salisbury and Dean on Tuesday afternoon, 18 February.

Passengers travelling between Winchester to Southampton via Eastleigh this weekend are advised to check before they travel due to emergency engineering works taking place.

Engineers have worked around the clock over the last four days to replace the deck of a 129-year-old bridge, as part of a series of improvements on the Heart of Wessex line between Weymouth and Yeovil Pen Mill.

Passengers are reminded the Heart of Wessex rail line will close for seven days this weekend from Saturday 15 to Friday 21 February, as Network Rail carries out improvement works to increase reliability and performance along the route.

The main railway line reopened through Eastleigh on Monday following the derailment of a freight train at the station and six days of emergency repair works.

Following the derailment at Eastleigh station repairs continue on site as Network Rail engineers work around the clock to reopen the stretch of railway damaged after six 52 tonne wagons came off the track.
