Network Rail has condemned vandals who delayed essential workers by throwing a metal light case onto electrified tracks in Southampton.

Passengers are reminded that a section of railway in the Templecombe area in Somerset will close this weekend for nine days to allow Network Rail to work on a cutting that suffered severe damage last winter.

A section of railway between Somerset and Wiltshire will close for nine days from 13-21 June to allow Network Rail to secure a railway cutting ensuring more reliable journeys for passengers, as well as removing two speed restrictions.

Network Rail engineers have successfully completed a vital upgrade of the railway between Fareham and Eastleigh in Hampshire to provide a more reliable train service for passengers

Network Rail engineers worked around the clock over the Late May Bank Holiday to deliver vital rail upgrades across Kent, Sussex and Wessex.

• The line between Eastleigh and Fareham and will close for improvement works between 23-29 May

• Engineers will install almost a mile of new track between Fareham and Botley
• Passengers will benefit from a more reliable railway and better performing train journeys

A person walking their dog on the track, and someone crossing the track with their shopping trolley are just some of the trespass incidents that have been reported to Network Rail since the COVID-19 lockdown has been in place.
