Students at Ysgol y Traeth, Barmouth, were visited recently by engineers from Network Rail and representatives from contractors Alun Griffiths and Penny's Group for a school assembly on the ongoing restoration of the iconic Barmouth viaduct. 

Network Rail engineers teamed up with colleagues from contractors AmcoGiffen to clean and restore two war memorials in Llanhilleth and Newbridge on the Ebbw Vale line ahead of Remembrance Sunday this weekend.

The major refurbishment of Dovey Junction viaduct in North Wales has been completed ahead of schedule after Network Rail teams worked through months of extreme weather and around the tides.

Network Rail is reminding passengers to check before they travel as the multi-million-pound upgrade of the Ebbw Vale line moves into its final stage.

Network Rail is making six stations on its Wales and Borders route fully accessible for the first time with the construction of new footbridges and lifts.

• More than half of users from Wales who texted Shout about loneliness were under 25-years-old (61%) with almost a quarter (24.5%) being between the ages of 14-17, with almost one in ten (9%) being 13 and under 

Network Rail has successfully moved two new 160-tonne metallic spans into place onto Barmouth Viaduct, reaching a milestone in the restoration of the iconic structure. 

A new digital system to let communities know about work taking place on the railway near their homes has been launched across Network Rail’s Wales and Borders route.
