Work is well under way to refurbish the footbridge at Goring-by-Sea station and provide a safer way of crossing the railway as part of Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan.

Pedestrians in the Tidemills area are being reminded of the importance of obeying signals and signs at level crossings, following a spike in potentially dangerous incidents at the pedestrian level crossing near the site of the abandoned village of Tidemills in East Sussex.

Network Rail has replaced two 50m canopies which stand over the platforms as well as making a raft of improvements to the station building. 

Network Rail are pleased to be working in partnership with the Southeast Communities Rail Partnership and Southern Water to recycle rainwater for use by station volunteer partners at West Worthing.

Network Rail is appealing to drivers of heavy goods vehicles to take more care around low bridges. Thurlow Park Road in Tulse Hill, London was the most hit bridge in the last year with 14 strikes, causing unnecessary delays and safety risks for rail passengers, motorists and locals.

The railway’s first contactless donation points at London Bridge and Charing Cross station have raised nearly £5,000 to help tackle the rise of homelessness in London. Network Rail and TAP London installed the donation points last year which has seen around 1,500 people donate.

Building work started on Gatwick Airport’s huge new railway station concourse yesterday (Sunday), as the first train arrived at one of the platforms that has been rebuilt.
