Investment in the rail network has generated more than £1.3bn of work for businesses in London and the south-east over the last year, according to new figures released today by Network Rail.

A new campaign encouraging people to take extra care in London’s major railway stations has been launched today.

• 177 people slipped, tripped or fell at Paddington station in the year
• More incidents occurred at Paddington than at any other railway station in London
• Campaign reminds passengers to take extra care when they travel home

• 135 people slipped, tripped or fell at Liverpool Street station in the last year
• Second highest number of incidents among London railway stations and station comes third in national table after Leeds and Paddington
• Campaign reminds passengers to take extra care when travelling after a night out

A new campaign encouraging people to take extra care in London’s railway stations has been launched today.

Network Rail is teaming up with the London Amateur Boxing Association to educate youngsters across the capital about railway safety.

Eight stations in south east London and Kent are to benefit from an £18.5m investment which will improve passengers’ access to trains and platforms.

Network Rail is to invest more than £2m to provide additional capacity on the line between Brighton and Lewes and lengthen platforms at Falmer station.
