Engineers will be working throughout this weekend (March 18 and 19) in Forres as they continue to construct the railway infrastructure needed to deliver the town’s new train station.

Our engineers will be working around-the-clock this Easter weekend to deliver more than £5m of infrastructure enhancements for Scotland’s railway.

Network Rail has completed work on Crosshill Road in Lenzie to raise the bridge parapet heights in preparation for electrification of the Edinburgh-Glasgow railway line.

Network Rail has had over 1,000 new rails delivered by sea to Scrabster Harbour in an innovative first for Scotland’s railway.

Network Rail has installed a new footbridge over the railway near Niddry Castle in Winchburgh – the final structure to be replaced – thus clearing the line for the electrification of the railway between Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Work will soon begin on a project to lengthen platforms at Edinburgh Waverley for the introduction of new longer, faster, greener trains between Edinburgh and Glasgow and on the East Coast main line.
