One hundred lucky members of the public got the chance to tour one of Birkenhead’s most iconic landmarks over the weekend after Network Rail organised rare access.

Rail passengers are being thanked after major work to connect a new rail to road freight interchange with the West Coast main line.

Passengers are now benefiting from major improvements to the Bakerloo line and London Overground which will provide more reliable journeys between London Euston and Watford Junction in the future. 

Network Rail has completed a range of essential upgrades to the railway between London Euston, the Midlands, and North West over the August bank holiday.

• Passengers are being warned of limited trains on Saturday 26 August due to strike action by staff at multiple train operators
• A special timetable will be in place with only six trains per hour leaving Manchester Piccadilly
• Many routes will see no trains at all - those which do run will start later from 7:30am and finish by 6.30pm
• People travelling into the city for Manchester Pride are being warned not to get caught out with trains finishing much earlier than usual
• Passengers are advised that trains which are running will be extremely busy, and to plan ahead using National Rail Enquiries

Rail passengers on a major route through Cheshire are now benefiting from a £1.6m upgrade to Wilmslow station.

Major work to replace a Victorian drainage culvert beneath the railway in Aylesbury is now complete to improve future journeys for passengers and freight services.

Passengers are being advised of changes to journeys while platforms 13 and 14 at Manchester Piccadilly station are resurfaced this September.
