Network Rail today announced the creation of several new senior leadership roles to strengthen customer focus and business performance. The changes include creating a new managing director for the northern portfolio who will look after the huge railway upgrade plan under way in the north of England.

Network Rail has today (Wednesday 5 October) launched a new smartphone app which will help enable the 1 in 6 deaf people who live in the UK to access a range of information to help them to use level crossings safely. The Signly Network Rail app launch forms part of a new campaign that aims to support people with visual, hearing or mobility impairment, who may face additional challenges when using a level crossing.

Network Rail announced that today, Monday 3 October, Jeremy Vincent joined the company as the chief information officer (CIO).

New figures from Network Rail¹ reveal that almost a third (29%) of young adults admit to using their mobile phone while crossing the railway. A further two thirds (66%) also report using their phone when catching or getting off a train or tube.

Network Rail volunteer Tom Crosby received the Judges Special Award at last night’s National Rail Awards.
