Network Rail’s Commercial and Procurement (C&P) team has reached an important milestone in partnering with suppliers to tackle climate change by securing commitments from 50% of suppliers to join the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to reduce their carbon footprint.

Best-selling authors of the Adventures on Trains series, M.G. Leonard and Sam Sedgman, teamed up with Network Rail this afternoon to take schoolchildren from Glasgow on a fun-packed literary adventure aboard Porterbrook's HydroFLEX train celebrating Transport Day at the climate change conference.  

The Prime Minister was welcomed to Glasgow Central station this afternoon by Network Rail chief executive Andrew Haines as he boarded one of the green trains of the future being showcased at COP26.

Trudy Harrison MP, DfT minister and Member of Parliament for Copeland, was joined by Network Rail chief executive Andrew Haines this afternoon to get a closer look at the best of British low-carbon train technology at Glasgow Central station. 

Network Rail has launched a competition to highlight some of the exciting Information Technology careers available at the organisation, and in the wider rail industry, to young people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.

His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales met with teams from Network Rail and pioneering train technology companies Vivarail and Porterbrook this afternoon (Friday 5th November) to find out more about alternative fuel trains and the technology which will play a major part in powering Britain’s green rail revolution.

Network Rail and Vivarail have released stunning aerial shots of the first emission-free fully-electric train to cross the iconic Forth Bridge as the United Nations Climate Change Conference takes place in Glasgow.
