This December, Network Rail is investing in the East Midlands’ railway to bring better stations, more reliable journeys and to power ahead with the Midland Main Line electrification scheme.

This Christmas, shoppers in Lincoln will benefit from a smoother route across the city’s biggest level crossing. 

This morning (23 November), rail passengers can travel between Leicester and Peterborough once again after Network Rail completes almost three weeks of extensive repairs.

Passenger services between Leicester and Peterborough will resume on Wednesday 23 November, after a bridge strike in Ketton, Rutland caused extensive damage, leading to the closure of the line.  

Road users in Oakham are being warned to expect delays at the town’s level crossings - and avoid them wherever they can - on Saturday 12 and Saturday 19 November.

This week, work is underway to fully refurbish Chesterfield station’s platform canopies and revitalise the station for the thousands of passengers who use it each year.

Extensive damage to a railway bridge in Ketton, Rutland means that train services between Leicester and Peterborough are likely to be disrupted for the next three weeks.
