Network Rail begins major work to historic railway bridge in Gateshead this month
Network Rail will begin major work to repair and strengthen Wellington Street railway bridge on Monday 24 January, in a project which will make sure it remains fit for purpose for years to come.

- A package of rail upgrades will make Northallerton station more accessible and bring more reliable journeys for passengers
- Limited services on 29/30 January, with no trains calling at the station on 5/6 February, and 12/13 February as Network Rail upgrades track between York and Newcastle
- Major work will also take place on a project to install lifts, meaning temporary changes to access at the station

Network Rail’s train testing site achieves major milestone as part of digital railway programme
Network Rail’s purpose-built Rail Innovation and Development Centre (RIDC) reached a major milestone on the East Coast Digital Programme last month with the successful completion of dynamic testing of the Alstom-installed European Train Control System (ETCS) on rolling stock. The test was controlled from the ETCS National Integration Facility (ENIF).
