Network Rail, Thameslink and Great Northern are reminding passengers to check their journey before travelling as further engineering work is carried out on two weekends in early January as part of the billion-pound East Coast Digital Programme.

Over the Christmas period, Network Rail teams carried out vital engineering work between Welwyn Garden City and Hitchin as part of the billion-pound East Coast Digital Programme (ECDP).

Hundreds of Network Rail engineers have given up their Christmases to deliver major upgrades to the railway in North Yorkshire.

Close to 200 engineers gave up Christmases with their loved ones to deliver improvements to the railway at Doncaster station.

Over 100 colleagues from Network Rail will be working around the clock this festive period to carry out key upgrades to the railway in Hadley Wood.

Network Rail and train operators are reminding passengers to plan ahead and check before travelling as further upgrade work for the billion-pound East Coast Digital Programme (ECDP) takes place on Christmas Eve.
