Passengers travelling via Cambridge and Ely are being asked to check their journey plans before travelling as major engineering and station construction work will affect most weekends from mid September to the end of November. 

Passengers will be able to travel by rail during the August bank holiday to enjoy the best of what Anglia has to offer as majority of the rail network across the region will be open.

Network Rail is thanking passengers and the local community after it finished a key stage of a major project to replace a deteriorating bridge.

Engineers will be renewing over 1700 metres of track between Woodbridge and Westerfield junction over six days to improve passenger journeys and prepare the line to accommodate increased freight traffic.

A range of improvements will make the passenger station experience better at London Liverpool Street including more ticket gates new retail units and a new Greater Anglia ticket office on Platform 10.

Trains will not be able to run for 16 consecutive days while Network Rail replaces a bridge over the railway between Saturday 20 July and Sunday 4 August.

To improve safety for crossing users, Network Rail is closing Gipsy Lane level crossing in Needham Market, Suffolk, and building a new, safe footpath under the railway using an existing culvert for pedestrians.
