Passengers returning to work today (3 January) are benefitting from a more reliable and safe railway after a programme of investment and upgrades across the network over Christmas and the New Year.

More than 24,000 members of Network Rail’s orange army are heading home for a belated Christmas after an intensive, but very successful ten days of railway improvement work.

Network Rail has completed another £4.5 million slice of the £800 million Waterloo & South West Upgrade on time over Christmas, which will boost capacity at Waterloo by 30% by December 2018.
