The London Overground line between Gospel Oak and Barking will reopen to passengers on Monday 27 February, following a phased eight-month closure to electrify the route. However the installation of all of the overhead wires has not been completed on time and more work is required.

Network Rail has started work to install a footbridge over the railway near Niddry Castle in Winchburgh – the final structure to be replaced ahead of the electrification of the railway line between Edinburgh and Glasgow.  

Upgrading the railway to prepare for a new fleet of electric trains that will improve journeys for passengers is one step closer to completion today, as plans to replace Splott Road Bridge were announced.

A new accessible footbridge opening later this month over the railway in Tovil, Maidstone will make crossing the tracks safer and easier for local people and means an outdated footpath level crossing can be closed for good.
