A multi-million-pound platform extension at Wigan North Western station will soon provide passengers travelling to Manchester and Leeds with longer and more reliable trains.

Network Rail engineers worked tirelessly over the August Bank Holiday to deliver vital rail upgrades for passengers across the company’s Southern Region.

A huge package of vital rail upgrades was delivered over the August Bank Holiday weekend to improve reliability of services for Anglia’s rail passengers. 

Network Rail has completed the final section of infrastructure works on the £29 million upgrade of the rail line between Kings Lynn and Cambridge over the August bank holiday.

Work to refurbish the rail bridge over Merrylee Road on the Southside of Glasgow is now underway and on track to complete by the end of the year.

Passengers are being advised about changes to dates for a series of emergency works to replace wheel timbers on the railway tracks on four bridges at Manea, between Ely and Peterborough, this autumn.
