Network Rail responds to the government's announcement of funding for control period 6.

Network Rail engineers will begin demolishing Mardy Road bridge in Cardiff this weekend as part of the Railway Upgrade Plan to improve journeys for passengers.

Specialist ‘railhead treatment’ trains are out in force across the railway in Wales and the Borders, as Network Rail’s and Arriva Trains Wales’ joint autumn plan steps up a gear, with teams of highly trained engineers ready to work 24/7 to help keep rail passengers moving this autumn.

Network Rail is accelerating its land for homes programme with the launch of the first in a planned series of new multi-site land packages to complement its extensive bank of housing schemes already underway. It is also introducing a range of new measures to improve its work with developers. 

With just one month to go, passengers are being reminded to plan their journeys as the region counts down to the 19 week transformation of the railway between Blackpool and Preston.

Piles of rubbish which have been illegally dumped onto the high railway embankment in Richmond Hill will be removed by Network Rail in a move to clean up the area.

Passengers are advised to check before they travel as the next stage of improvement work to the signalling system takes place in West Yorkshire as part of the Great North Rail Project.

Network Rail is to make improvements to Fisherman’s Path level crossing in Formby.
