Network Rail has installed 12 new pieces of original art at Leeds station to improve the experience of passengers travelling through it and create a more colourful and vibrant environment.

Mark Carne, the chief executive of Network Rail, has advised the Board that he has decided to retire from the company later this year.  The timing of his announcement ensures that a new chief executive will be established in the role before the start of the next five year regulatory control period which begins in April 2019.

Rail travellers are advised to check before they travel as the latest stage of the Great North Rail Project takes place.

Muirhead Road in Baillieston will be closed for seven months from Monday February 12 to enable a multi-million pound investment to reconstruct the bridge over the railway.

Network Rail is carrying out improvement work to the Cambrian Line, between Newtown and Aberystwyth, as part of its Railway Upgrade Plan. The £7.25m project will see 6km of track renewed over a period of 8 weeks.

• Life-expired Burnaby Road railway bridge in Portsmouth to be replaced between Monday 12 February and Friday 16 February 2018.
• Rail replacement buses in operation between Portsmouth Harbour and Portsmouth and Southsea, with diversion routes for motorists and pedestrians
• More than 50 Network Rail engineers and track staff will work around the clock to install
• New crossing, made from British steel, to replace the old bridge over the half-term break

A multimedia campaign has been launched to spread an important railway safety message as work continues to electrify the Midland Main Line between Kettering, Corby and Bedford.

The latest phase of the Aberdeen-Inverness Improvement Project to upgrade the railway between the two cities is now underway in Aberdeen.
