Train passengers are being advised to plan ahead during the forecast hot spell this weekend and be aware of its potential impact on the railway.

A road closed for the renewal of an important railway bridge which serves Liverpool Freight Terminal has officially reopened today (Friday 28 June).

Residents and motorists in Poynton near Stockport are being reminded that a major upgrade to a road bridge over the railway in Cheshire starts on Friday 5 July.

In December passengers using the South Wales mainline will see a transformation of their rail services as GWR’s biggest timetable change since 1976 comes into effect. 

Over 15,000 metres of new fencing and gates have been installed at nearly 300 stations across Kent, Sussex and south London as part of a £2.3 million project to stop people trespassing on the railway.

Four students from Osbaldwick Primary Academy have come out top in a railway competition which encourages children to get involved in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) activities.
