Network Rail and train operators are advising passengers to check their journeys this weekend, with Storm Ciara expected to bring winds of up to 80mph across Britain.

• All lines in the Guildford area will be affected by improvement work between Friday 10 and Sunday 19 April 2020
• A limited South Western Railway (SWR) service will operate between London Waterloo and Guildford via Cobham & Stoke D’ Abernon from Tuesday 14 to Sunday 19 April
• Great Western Railway (GWR) services between Reading, Guildford and Gatwick Airport will be affected
• CrossCountry services between Newcastle and Guildford will be affected
• Southern passengers for Guildford will need to change at Epsom for onward SWR services

Network Rail is inviting everyone to have their say on new proposals to upgrade Reigate station.

Billions of pounds will be invested in railway signalling over the next five years to improve the reliability of systems on Britain’s railways, potentially enabling more trains to run.

With gusts of around 70mph forecast across the region, Network Rail and train operators are preparing for the impact of Storm Ciara this Sunday with speed restrictions and some reduced services expected. 

Network Rail and Transport for Wales have issued joint information ahead of Storm Ciara, which is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain to the Wales and Borders route this weekend.

The main railway line reopened through Eastleigh on Monday following the derailment of a freight train at the station and six days of emergency repair works.
