As upgrades progress in Huddersfield as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), the A641 Bradford Road / Northgate will be closed for six weekends at the start of 2025.

Overwhelming support for Network Rail’s plans to restore, respect and regenerate Britain’s busiest station

Ongoing work on the Isle of Wight is progressing well as Network Rail’s engineers continue to complete important upgrades to the pier structure between Ryde Pierhead and Ryde Esplanade.

Network Rail and the Rail Delivery Group (RDG) have today (Tuesday, 10 December) launched new videos which will make it easier for passengers travelling this festive period to plan their journeys.  

The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) has released its first Sustainable Development Report, showcasing significant achievements in sustainability from April 2019 to March 2024. The £10.7bn rail programme, spanning Manchester to York, aims to leave a long-lasting legacy across the North, combining environmental protection, economic growth and community engagement.

Network Rail will switch its screen back on as part of a trial to provide clearer and more visible travel updates for passengers.

Throughout December, the TRU team will be carrying out work at Mirfield station that will see the partial closure of Station Road to vehicles and pedestrians over the Christmas period.
