Network Rail teams are continuing to work hard to repair the landslip at Aycliffe, near Darlington, but the complex nature of the fix and the landscape of the site has meant the work has taken longer to complete than expected.

Rail passengers are being advised of changes to journeys between Chester, Warrington and Manchester and Liverpool via Runcorn this week due to essential bridge repairs.

Network Rail has successfully completed the first major stage of work to modernise railway signals across Cornwall, with passenger train services resuming today after 13 days of round-the-clock work. 

Network Rail is to carry out major engineering work between Doncaster, Selby and York which will deliver reliability upgrades and a safer, more resilient railway for passengers.

The first of a two-part closure on the West of England line saw the railway closed for five days between Yeovil Junction and Axminster to allow engineers to successfully carry out reliability improvements with the second phase due to begin on Saturday 25 November.

Network Rail are investing £1.2m in the Bunchrew level crossing on the Far North Line, with work beginning on Sunday 12 November.  

Network Rail expects rail services on the East Coast Main Line to return to normal from Tuesday after a landslip has caused disruption near Darlington.

Work to carry out repairs to the collapsed wall close to Dewsbury station is progressing well, with Network Rail expecting a normal train service to be reintroduced from Monday (13 November).
