Passengers travelling between Birmingham and Kidderminster are being warned of changes to services this weekend while essential track maintenance work takes place.

Railway 200 marks the bicentenary of the first passenger railway journey on the Stockton & Darlington Railway in 1825.

So far, over 200 events celebrating the past, present and future of the railway have been scheduled across Britain over the coming year. More events are being added to Railway 200's website every week.

The following is a list of events and booking opportunities in February and March which may be of interest your readers.

• The new role is an intent to bring in new thinking and expertise to prepare the industry for track and train integration as part of Great British Railways.

Aston Villa’s match against Scottish champions Celtic will bring thousands of fans into Birmingham, meaning trains and stations will be busier than normal on Wednesday (29 January).

Passengers between Worcester and Hereford are being urged to plan their journeys and check before they travel ahead of six days of disruption which starts this Sunday (26 January).

Passengers travelling on the West Coast Main Line and Trent Valley line are being encouraged to check their journeys before travelling, as essential track upgrade work is planned across multiple weekends in the end of January and the beginning of February. This will result in longer journey times between Euston, the North West of England and Scotland.

The railway, canals and historic houses of Warwickshire have joined forces to reward green travel with a free cup of tea.
