Passengers travelling between Birmingham and Kidderminster are being warned of changes to services this weekend while essential track maintenance work takes place.
The carefully planned work which will provide better and more reliable journeys, means the railway will be closed on Sunday (16 February) between Birmingham Snow Hill and Kidderminster.
Network Rail teams will be carrying out maintenance of the switches and crossings which allow trains to move from one track to another, and removing vegetation, to help keep the railway safe for the hundreds of passengers which use the line every week.
The essential work will predominantly affect West Midlands Railway services and some Chiltern services and journeys will take longer than usual with bus replacement services in operation.
Martin Colmey, operations director for Network Rail Central route, said: “I am sorry for the disruption caused while we complete this essential maintenance work. We know there is never a good time to close the railway but this work has been carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum while delivering the most future benefits for passengers.
“If you're planning to travel, please plan ahead and check before you travel for the latest journey information and travel advice.”
Jonny Wiseman, Customer Experience Director for West Midlands Railway, said: "I would like to thank our customers for their patience while Network Rail carries out these essential engineering works on the Snow Hill lines.
"Buses will replace trains between Birmingham Snow Hill, Stourbridge and Kidderminster for the majority of the day on Sunday, meaning passengers should plan their journeys carefully and allow extra time while travelling."
The railway will also be closed between High Wycombe and Wembley Stadium due to further track maintenance work taking place.

About Network Rail
We own, operate and develop Britain's railway infrastructure; that's 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. We run 20 of the UK's largest stations while all the others, over 2,500, are run by the country's train operating companies.
Usually, there are almost five million journeys made in the UK and over 600 freight trains run on the network. People depend on Britain's railway for their daily commute, to visit friends and loved ones and to get them home safe every day. Our role is to deliver a safe and reliable railway, so we carefully manage and deliver thousands of projects every year that form part of the multi-billion pound Railway Upgrade Plan, to grow and expand the nation's railway network to respond to the tremendous growth and demand the railway has experienced - a doubling of passenger journeys over the past 20 years.
