Passengers at Tenby station to benefit from step-free access between platforms as upgrades move into next phase

The railway between Newport and Cardiff reopened on Monday 23 March following a week of vital track renewals to support more dependable journeys on the South Wales Main Line.

Passengers are closer to benefitting from improved rail services, better connectivity and new stations as Network Rail submits a full business case for major railway upgrades between Cardiff Central and Severn Tunnel Junction. 

Next stop, Swansea! Network Rail and Transport for Wales (TfW) are pleased to announce the return of the Railway 200 ‘Inspiration’ train to Wales this April. 

Buses will replace trains for one week from Monday 15 March while Network Rail carries out essential engineering work and accessibility upgrades at Tenby Station.

The railway between Newport and Cardiff Central will close from late on Friday 20 March, and remain closed throughout the weekend, while Network Rail completes vital upgrades to the South Wales Main Line, with buses replacing trains.

The new footbridge at Prestatyn Station, on the North Wales Coast Line, will provide a safe, step-free route across the railway for residents and visitors.
