The main span, stairs and lift shafts for the new accessible footbridge at Abergavenny station in Monmouthshire have been successfully installed by Network Rail and contractor Centregreat.

Network Rail Wales and Borders route director Nick Millington has been elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Nick was one of 71 leading figures in the field of engineering and technology named as new Fellows at the Academy’s AGM yesterday (17 September).

Track that was removed from the Severn Tunnel during the recent renewal of the line will have a second life after moving to the Global Centre of Rail Excellence (GCRE) to be used as sidings.

Network Rail has moved a step closer to completing a new footbridge with lifts at Newtown station in Powys which will make both platforms fully accessible for the first time.

New figures released by Network Rail reveal that animals trespassed 246 times in the Wales & Western region in the 12 months to March 2024, ranging from sheep at one end of the scale to cats, foxes and even a solitary badger.

Network Rail is reminding people to take extra care at level crossings after an incident in North Wales where a train had to slow down when a toddler and adult were on the crossing.
