- Network Rail launches today a campaign to attract more talented women to the company

- Only 2% of the applications to Network Rail's apprenticeship scheme since its inception in 2005 are from women

- Among this small percentage of women who have led the way is Natalie Taylor from Swindon

Network Rail awarded the latest contract for its redevelopment of the railway at Reading this week, capping a successful year that has seen substantial progress on the scheme. The contract, awarded to Jacobs Engineering, is for the design of a new train depot on railway land to the north west of the station.

The battle to combat rail crimes in Newport, a top hotspot in south Wales, has begun. 

St Joseph boxing club will be receiving a £10k funding boost from Network Rail to get more young people taking up new sporting skills and away from the temptation of misbehaving on the railway.
