Network Rail engineers have completed an intensive package of rail improvement work in Devon, prevailing over challenges posed by the victorian-era Marley tunnel and poor weather conditions.

Work has started on the £20m project to double the track at Axminster on the Waterloo - Exeter line. Engineers have started clearing three miles of railway land to make way for the new track.
£10M BRINGS RAIL IMPROVEMENT TO DEVON PASSENGERS

The railway line between Exeter – Plymouth is set to become more reliable to passengers. A series of improvements will be made to six separate sections on the Devon line, starting with more than two weeks of intensive work at the Marley Tunnel, Dawlish sea cliff and Plymouth station in January.
