The train service between Harlech and Pwllheli is open for business again today (Monday, 1 September) following the successful rebuild of Pont Briwet viaduct.

The bridge over the railway at Fulscot Road has reopened to the public today, Friday 29 August, after work to prepare it for electrification was completed.

Over 70 local residents took up the offer of a tour of Kintbury signal box, after Network Rail invited the community to the information events to find out more about how the railway works. The tours proved to be so popular that an extra one was organised to keep up with demand.

Network Rail’s £45m project to upgrade the line between Swindon and Kemble was successfully completed over the bank holiday weekend, paving the way for greater capacity, reduced journey times and a better experience for passengers.

The bridge over the railway at Stratton Green on Swindon Road is to be reconstructed as part of Network Rail’s Great Western Electrification Programme.

A local resident has been found guilty of dangerous driving and banned from driving for 12 months after deliberately driving over Kintbury level crossing after the barriers had been lowered.

Network Rail is reminding people of the risks of trespassing on the railway, as the Cambrian line between Harlech and Pwllheli reopens to engineering trains from Monday 18 August, followed shortly by passenger services.

The reopening of the walkway between Teignmouth and Smugglers Lane in Dawlish has been delayed until next week, after stormy weather at the weekend damaged the temporary works used to construct Sprey Point ramp.
