Network Rail’s plan to improve safety at Ufton Nervet level crossing reached an important milestone this week as work started to prepare the site for the replacement of the level crossing with a bridge.

Alun Davies AM joined staff from Network Rail at Llanhilleth station to see new railway track being laid, which will enable a more frequent service for passengers on the Ebbw Vale line.

Over the last six weeks, Network Rail’s ‘orange army’ has been working round-the-clock to prepare the railway line that runs through Bath and its surrounding area for the arrival of electrification and a new fleet of longer, faster, quieter and greener electric trains.

Network Rail will be carrying out essential work to the bridge over the railway on Bonnington Walk in Lockleaze to prepare it for electrification and the arrival of a new fleet of longer, faster, quieter and greener electric trains.
