Island Line services resume following completion of large programme of vital maintenance
South Western Railway (SWR) services resume this morning (Monday 7 October) following a month-long closure of the Island Line while engineers completed a comprehensive programme of critical maintenance.
TWO WEEKS TO GO: Passengers asked to plan ahead of major repairs in the Ore tunnel between Hastings and Rye from Saturday 19 October to Sunday 3 November 2024
Work in the tunnel to improve drainage and repair brickwork will protect the railway for the future, improving the reliability of rail passengers' journeys
ONE MONTH TO GO: Passengers asked to plan ahead over October half term as Network Rail undertakes essential work on the Medway Valley line
- Engineering works to take place near East Farleigh station and at Maidstone West station
- Between Thursday 31 October and Sunday 3 November the line is closed between Paddock Wood and Maidstone West, with buses replacing trains
