London Charing Cross and Waterloo East stations have now reopened following repairs to a faulty gas main in a nearby road which required a cordon to be put in place by emergency services.

Network Rail and the British Transport Police have issued a warning to motorists after a reckless driver who crashed through a level-crossing barrier was handed an 18-month driving ban, ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and pay £1000 in compensation.

Rail passengers across Sussex are being urged to plan ahead as a ‘once-in-a-generation’ upgrade to the southern end of the Brighton Main Line was announced today by Network Rail and Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR).

South Western Railway passengers have been reminded to plan their journeys in advance of three upcoming weekends of planned engineering works - Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 January, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 January, Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 February.
