Network Rail is inviting residents to a drop-in session to find out more about proposals to close and replace Chandler’s Ford level crossing in Eastleigh with a stepped footbridge as part of the organisation’s Railway Upgrade Plan to provide a bigger, better, more reliable railway for passengers and businesses.

A £39.8m project to rebuild the line between Folkestone and Dover will be completed this autumn, Network Rail has confirmed.

Work to repair and rebuild the railway has been taking place since December 2015, when the line had to be closed after it became severely damaged.

Train services have resumed between London Bridge and East Croydon this morning after Network Rail and Thames Water engineers worked for more than a day to mend a deep hole under the railway at Forest Hill

A significantly reduced service will continue to run to and from London Bridge for the rest of the day and evening as Network Rail engineers continue to fix the hole at Forest Hill in south London.

Passengers are being urged to check before they travel this morning after a collapsed sewer led to train services being disrupted through Forest Hill.

One of Network Rail’s most experienced rail engineers gave children from Maple Grove primary school in Pitsea, Essex, an insight into 40 years in the railway industry yesterday (Thursday, 14 July).

Network Rail will begin work to extend the platforms and install a new, accessible footbridge at Virginia Water station on Sunday (17 July), providing better journeys for passengers as part of the organisation’s Railway Upgrade Plan.
