Network Rail is helping to protect snakes and lizards which have made the railway their home in Cumbria.

A 181-year-old viaduct designed by railway pioneer George Stephenson has been painstakingly restored to improve passenger journeys in the Calder Valley.

Unsightly graffiti on the railway in Widnes has been tackled as part of wider community clean up in Cheshire.

Passengers and residents in Warrington are being informed about work to upgrade two railway bridges later this year.

Work to extend platforms at Ramsgreave & Wilpshire station in Blackburn is now complete meaning more space for trains and passengers.
