Schola Green Lane footpath crossing in Morecambe is to be improved and made safer for local people crossing the railway thanks to a £30,000 investment by Network Rail.

The line between Birmingham and Manchester reopened at 15.36 today (Tuesday 5 January 2015) after passengers journeys were disrupted this morning by a broken down machine on the line.

The West Coast main line near Stafford has reopened on time after Network Rail’s orange army completed four days of upgrade work to track and bridges over Christmas.

Train passengers in flood-stricken parts of northern England were tonight (Saturday) advised to expect disruptions on the railway tomorrow (Sunday).

Severe rain fall in East Lancashire has led to flooding on the railway in the Walsden area which may affect services due to start up after the Christmas period tomorrow. Passengers are being asked to check before they travel to see if their journey is affected.
