Network Rail engineers have completed the first stage of upgrades in an eight week programme to remodel station platforms and upgrade signalling as part of Liverpool Lime Street station’s major transformation.

Passengers travelling in the Greater Manchester area and from Manchester to Yorkshire and the North East are reminded to check before they travel this weekend as upgrades to the railway take place.

Network Rail is inviting residents to find out more about fencing and vegetation work in Den Lane, Uppermill, Oldham.

A historic bell located at the top of Runcorn’s iconic Britannia railway bridge has been removed by helicopter ahead of a full restoration by Network Rail.

The railway between London and Scotland via the West Midlands and north west has fully reopened after a number of upgrade projects were successfully completed on time.

Network Rail and Northern announced today they will be commissioning an independent report and recommendations into the preparations and processes leading up to the implementation of the recent timetable change. Customer groups, transport and Northern stakeholders will be invited to contribute to the report.
