Network Rail has kicked off construction of a new footbridge and lifts at Bexley station which will provide passengers with a fully accessible station.

MP Tracey Crouch joined friends from the community and the railway to celebrate the official opening of Chatham station’s £5.8m lifts and footbridge, providing step-free access between the station entrance, ticket office and platforms.

• Passengers urged to check times of last trains to avoid being stuck in London for Christmas
• Strike action means last trains home to the coast on Christmas Eve will be as early as 1200, and all services will wind down by 1500 (3pm).
