Network Rail has today (Wednesday 13 October) reopened Barnack Road in Stamford – over two weeks ahead of schedule - as engineers continue with the final stages of work to strengthen Stamford Tunnel.

Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, and Thales have been appointed by Network Rail to deliver an industry-first pathfinder project for Heritage Rail Projects as part of the East Coast Digital Programme.

• Improvements continue at Leeds station this month ahead of work to remodel the track layout between platforms 4 and 6 later this year
• Work will bring more reliable services for passengers and reduce the impact of unplanned disruption on the railway
• No trains to or from Leeds before 11:40 on Sunday 31 October - passengers reminded to check their journey
• Changes to services on Saturday 30 October and after 11:40 on Sunday 31 October

• Over 200 West Yorkshire school pupils have taken part in Leeds Station Safety Week
• Network Rail, British Transport Police, Northern and Leeds United Foundation ran sessions focusing on the dangers of trespass, as well as on-train and station safety
• A quarter of trespass incidents involve young people – pupils were reminded that trespassing on the railway can lead to serious and catastrophic consequences

• Network Rail launches new ‘Brighter Journeys’ campaign with national mental health charity Chasing the Stigma to encourage those who may be struggling with their mental health to seek help
• Brighter Journeys installation will be at Leicester station on Monday 11 October
• New research shows more people in the East Midlands are now returning to work and using the railway, with 55% of workers travelling to their workplace for the majority of their working week in August
• This new campaign forms part of Network Rail’s efforts to reduce suicides across the rail network, with train operating companies and the British Transport Police

• Major Transpennine Route Upgrade work continues between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge this weekend
• The latest stage of improvements include strengthening Williamson Street viaduct, upgrading more track at Miles Platting and installing new equipment for signalling cables
• The project will bring faster, more reliable services between Manchester and York, via Huddersfield and Leeds
• Trains between Manchester and Stalybridge will run via Manchester Piccadilly only (not Manchester Victoria) on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 October – passengers urged to check their journey
