- Final stage of programme to upgrade 1970’s track between Kentish Town and London St Pancras is taking place over Christmas
- Improvements will bring a more modern reliable railway for passengers and reduce the impact of unplanned disruption
- Network Rail is taking the opportunity to make major progress when no train services are timetabled on Christmas Day or Boxing Day
- Reduced East Midlands Railway and Thameslink services from Monday 27 December until Tuesday 4 January – passengers encouraged to plan ahead

- Signals in the area are now operated from York’s Rail Operating Centre, delivering a modern, more reliable railway for passengers
- Signallers took part in 72-hours of intense training to prepare for the smooth transition
Going digital – major improvements this month and over Christmas on London’s Northern City Line

Five railway workers based in York and Leeds have volunteered their time to build new facilities for St Michael’s Youth Project in Hull as part of the BBC’s DIY SOS: The Big Build programme for Children in Need.

- No trains to/from Middlesbrough from Saturday 13 to Monday 15 November – bus replacement services will keep passengers moving
LNER and Network Rail work together to run special Lincoln Christmas Market services
London North Eastern Railway (LNER) and Network Rail have worked together to enable a special weekend timetable with larger trains during the Lincoln Christmas Market, with direct services from locations including Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness.
