Better facilities are now available for passengers at Market Harborough station, as Network Rail unveils the brand-new toilet block and waiting room today (Friday 22 July).

The East Coast Main Line has now reopened after teams carried out repairs to the railway in Sandy, Bedfordshire following significant damage caused by a fire which spread to the tracks.

Rail passengers using the Midland Main Line north from St Pancras are being advised not to travel first thing on Wednesday morning while safety checks continue.  It follows record temperatures in the East Midlands on Tuesday which were higher than the design limits for track and overhead line equipment.  

Passengers planning on travelling on the East Coast Main Line today (Wednesday, 20 July) are being urged to plan ahead and check before travelling as severe disruption is expected. 

Rail leaders in the East Midlands are warning that passengers will not be able to travel for significant parts of the day tomorrow (Tuesday 19 July).  It’s in response to forecast temperatures for the Midland Main Line which are higher than the design limits for track and overhead line equipment.   Extra safety precautions are being put in place, particularly between Bedford and London.  The East Coast Main Line is also closed to rail services during Tuesday.

Rail leaders in the East Midlands are advising passengers to only travel if absolutely necessary on Monday and Tuesday next week (18 and 19 July).

Network Rail is inviting residents to find out more about major work to reconstruct a bridge which carries the railway over Gainsborough Road.

Plans to improve St Albans City station are getting back on track this summer, as Network Rail resumes work on the £6.8m revamp.
