Network Rail has completed a major project to revamp Cottingham station footbridge and protect its heritage.

A range of improvements designed to improve the experience for passengers at King’s Cross has been topped off this week with the introduction of unlimited free WiFi throughout the station.

Major work to upgrade the railway in West Yorkshire is now a step closer as Network Rail has submitted plans to transform the line between Huddersfield and Westtown (Dewsbury) following two rounds of public and stakeholder consultations.

Network Rail has today (Wednesday 31 March) reopened Oakham station footbridge for passengers after completing a major revamp to protect its future.

Network Rail teams in Hitchin are using innovative methods - and two new recruits - to detect and protect great crested newts.

Network Rail is carrying out major work to replace a railway bridge over the A6003 in Manton near Oakham in Rutland, to make sure it remains fit for purpose for generations to come.

• No trains at King’s Cross on Friday 23, Saturday 24 or Sunday 25 April
• Only travel if absolutely essential on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April
• Network Rail is improving the track layout at King’s Cross and reopening a disused tunnel in the main stage of a £1.2billion upgrade of the East Coast Main Line
• Work will allow more trains to enter and exit the station, reduce congestion and bring smoother, more reliable journeys for passengers
• Passengers should continue to minimise travel and follow the latest Government guidance
