Passengers planning to travel to London during the May Bank Holiday from Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk should check before they travel as Network Rail will be carrying out vital upgrades on the London to Norwich line.

Passengers are a step closer to better, faster, quieter journeys today as Network Rail completed a major programme of work to rebuild a road bridge to the north of Bedford three weeks early, as part of a £1.6bn railway upgrade plan that’s underway on the main line to and from London St Pancras.

Network Rail and Abellio Greater Anglia today thanked passengers for their patience as vital upgrades were completed over Easter on the line between London and Norwich.

People are continuing to risk their lives at Grays level crossing in Essex by jumping the barriers or walking on the tracks, Network Rail has said. 

A 17 year old girl from The Perse School in Cambridge, has scooped a runners’ up prize in a national competition run by Network Rail, which aims to raise awareness amongst young women of the exciting breadth of career options in technology and redress the male/female balance in the sector.

Pedestrians are risking injury or death by taking shortcuts and climbing over fencing at Grays level crossing in Essex, Network Rail and Thurrock Council have warned.

Network Rail is seeking to recruit 18 young people from the east of England for its award-winning apprenticeship scheme, as it continues the largest investment into the railway since Victorian times.
