Journeys into London will be more reliable for passengers travelling on the busy line from Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex following successful completion of vital upgrade work over the spring bank holiday (28-30 May).

People across Essex, Havering, Southend and Thurrock are being invited to a series of consultation events to see Network Rail’s initial plans to potentially close or change the use of 61 level crossings across the region by altering the public Rights of Way network.

People across Hertfordshire are being invited to a consultation event in Harlow to see Network Rail’s initial plans to potentially close or change the use of 9 level crossings across the county by altering the public Rights of Way network.

People across Suffolk are being invited to three consultation events in Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket and Ipswich to see Network Rail’s initial plans to potentially close or change the use of 30 level crossings across the county by altering the public Rights of Way network.

People across Cambridgeshire are being invited to three consultation events in March, Ely and Cambridge to see Network Rail’s initial plans to potentially close or change the use of 33 level crossings across the county by altering the public Rights of Way network.

From 6 June, Network Rail engineers will be carrying out extensive improvement work on Hexham railway bridge as part of its Railway Upgrade Plan to make sure that it remains in service for many years to come.

Customers and local residents are being reminded that major upgrade work to the London Overground route between Gospel Oak and Barking will result in a phased closure starting Saturday 4 June 2016, as part of Network Rail's Railway Upgrade Plan. In total an eight month closure of the railway is needed to carry out this vital work. 

Engineering students from Elutec College, East London visited a railway control centre in Upminster today (Wednesday 18 May) to receive training from two of Network Rail’s top engineering graduates.
