Motorists are putting their lives and others at risk as they fail to stop at the red lights at Chettisham level crossing on Lynn Road in Ely.

Passengers travelling between Norwich and Ipswich are urged to check before they travel this evening after large trees fell on to the overhead wires at Tivetshall between Norwich and Diss, also damaging the structures that carry them.

Pedestrians and cyclists who cross the railway at Slipe Lane, Broxbourne, will be able to do so more safely following the installation of a new footbridge as part of a £4m Network Rail project.

A six–span railway bridge between Ely and Littleport will be strengthened in February to enable the smooth running of services and prevent future speed restrictions that will cause delays on the line between Ely and Kings Lynn.

Residents of Lingwood, Cantley and Brundall are invited to information drop-in sessions about the major signalling upgrade to the Norwich, Yarmouth and Lowestoft rail lines.

Network Rail has completed work on an £8.6million project to upgrade the track at Newcastle station as part of the Great North Rail Project.

As part of Network Rail’s £170m Lee Valley Rail programme, disused land is being used to reinstate a third track between Stratford and Angel Road stations which was lost during the Beeching cuts of the 1960s. Video footage shows the installation of a new railway bridge in Tottenham which will once again carry a third track over the River Lea Navigation. Due to be complete in 2019, the project will enable two extra trains per hour*, unlocking sites for housing development and economic growth in the boroughs of Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forrest.
