Passengers are reminded that the majority of the network will be open over the busy August bank holiday (Saturday 24 to Monday 26 August) however, some lines will be closed for essential engineering works.

Earlier this summer, Network Rail and the British Transport Police (BTP) launched a new partnership with the English Football League Trust (EFL Trust) and StreetGames to help tackle the increasing number of people risking their lives on the railway in Bristol.

Network Rail and Transport for Wales Rail Services hosted a special steam train trip on Saturday 3 August to celebrate the reopening of the Conwy Valley line.

Network Rail engineers have been on-site throughout the day working to clear over 2ft of flood water from Winchburgh Tunnel in West Lothian.

Train services will be reintroduced between Crianlarich and Oban from Monday, but the line will remain closed between Ardlui and Crianlarich until Thursday, August 22.

Over three weekends in August, Network Rail and their principal contractor, Alun Griffiths, will reach a key milestone in the ‘Access for All’ project at Cadoxton station as they lift the newly built footbridge, lift towers and associated support columns into place.
