Network Rail is set to restart work on a new bigger sea wall at Dawlish, in Devon, on 9 September which will provide greater protection to the railway and town from rising sea levels and extreme weather for generations to come.

• Lime Street and Edge Hill stations will be closed on 2-3 November
• Passengers can still travel to/from central Liverpool on rail replacement buses or Merseyrail network
• 21^st century signalling upgrade will mean more reliable journeys for passengers

The drive to tackle the issue of railway trespass has been given a boost with Network Rail teaming up with Ipswich Town Football Club to teach young people about the dangers of the railway.

A new, safe, step-free route across the Felixstowe branch line has been opened at Trimley St Martin, providing access to the countryside for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders.

Network Rail is asking passengers travelling on routes to/from and through Leeds to check before they travel as work to improve Leeds station continues.  

Almost a mile of track has been replaced on the approach to London Liverpool Street, the third busiest station in the UK, to provide a more reliable service to passengers.

Network Rail is reminding residents in West Yorkshire that a public consultation on proposed railway upgrades begins next week.

Members of the public are being warned to stay off the railway as new high voltage railway equipment is switched on in Ashton-in-Makerfield.
